Indonesian Green Coffee Beans of Origin & Distinction
[ About ]■
Musafir Single Origins was born from the quiet alliance of two wanderers: a commodities trader attuned to the daily rhythm of brew, and a former nurse who worked the Australian soil before discovering her true passion in Melbourne’s bustling coffee houses. Somewhere in Indonesia, over coffee that tasted of citrus and memory, a partnership took root.
We trace Indonesian specialty coffee back to its truest voice—not the clamor of blends, but the solitary song of single origins, born where free-running water carves the mountains and the land itself is so rich it needs no persuasion at all.
Today we are proud to source our green coffee beans of Arabica, Robusta & Liberica, directly from more than 200 farms, scattered across five remarkable regions.

Mohammed El Tayari grew up in a family deeply rooted in international trade. On his father’s side, the family has exported Indonesian goods, furniture, handicrafts, and spices to Libya and the Mediterranean since the early 90’s. Born to an Indonesian mother, his heritage naturally drew him to Indonesia. He became a commodities trader in 2017 and stepped into regional sourcing management for the family business. The work took him across Indonesia’s diverse regions, revealing how coffee shifts dramatically. bright and citrusy in some areas, richer and earthier in others. In building enduring relationships with producers nationwide to supply his family craft and beyond, his love for coffee grew along the way.
Silke van Leest comes from a nursing background, where she developed a strong foundation in care and human connection. Seeking new challenges, she moved to Australia and worked in farming and agriculture. It was during her breaks from demanding farm work that she discovered Melbourne’s vibrant specialty coffee scene. What began as casual visits quickly deepened into a genuine passion, as she explored the city’s renowned cafés and experienced the craft, quality, and community that define exceptional coffee. This journey shaped her appreciation for the bean and its culture, leading her to co-found Musafir Single Origins, where she now applies her dedication and cross-cultural experience to building meaningful relationships in the specialty coffee industry.
